About Me |
| As any
artist knows, a person with a creative mind must constantly find
something to inspire them and bring out that creativity. Their path
seems to go in many different directions and for those who do not
possess this creative spark, don't understand why we are called to do so
many different things. My mom use to call this," Jacks of all
trades, master of none." She, thank goodness, didn't fault me for
being creative- she rather encouraged me. She was from a family of many
creative minds also. I am named after her sister, coincidently - a
professional artist also. She could see something in me that was drawn
to visual expression- drawing. Being able to see perspective and that
mind, eye and hand connection. When I was young, she always fostered my
talent although I was an active child I longed to so something more fun,
more physical. I didn't see the talent that was given to me until later,
although I always continued to draw and paint. It was easy to visualize
and effortless to draw something. Over the years, I would often try
something new to spice up the way I drew- always looking for some other
work to emulate. I have always loved to learn and try new things. We all
are human after all, and with a little practice, I thought to myself I
could paint and draw like anyone else. All I needed was a
little inspiration. A change in mediums or different form of visual art.
Change is a necessity for the creative mind.
After a year of college, I needed an income- so my professional career began. And although after 28 years as a professional artist, having tried the 9 to 5 position many times, I am always drawn to my artwork as a means of support. It is what I do and is who I am. I am an artist. It is a wonderful gift that has been given to me. There have been lull periods when business could've been busier and in this business, it is the nature of what we do an artist. Change again is essential to survival as an artist. I have driven many avenues to survive in the art world as a visual artist and I keep them in my portfolio of talents offered, because after all- what is a professional artist that can see only one view. All those different paths only enhance my talents and bring me closer to my artwork and my clients. |
| Although I have seen and experienced a lot of my 28 year professional career, I have yet to really see what's out there. I can appreciate every style of visual art and I have developed my own professional style. |
| - I love detail and realism |
| - The difference between dark and light and the play of colors together. |
| - The free flowing stroke of a pencil and the brushwork that creates the styles of impressionism and abstract realism. |
| - Looking through the artwork to see beyond and trying to capture an emotional connection. |
| - The feel of creating a piece that you have an emotional connection to or becoming a part of someone's family through a portrait. Painting the littlest details that someone else passes everyday and doesn't notice. |
| - I love to teach the basics to others so they can feel art too |
| - And like many artists, the feel of a new brush, new tube of paint , a clean canvas ready to paint or just a new pen that writes great! |
| I am an artist. I still love to learn, still searching for inspiration, willing, and ready to learn. And always looking to paint that next piece of art that will inspire someone else. |
